Applicants for a new Queensland Firearms Licence must successfully complete an approved course in Firearm Safety (Course #10618NAT) in the 12-month period ahead of the date when they wish to lodge their application. The courses we offer meet the requirement for a Queensland Licence.
The course(s) deal with knowledge, attitude and behaviour needed to use a firearm safely, responsibly and legally. It includes the technology of firearms and ammunition, safe handling and safe use of firearms, legal and social responsibilities of shooters, and practical shooting.
Each Category of license has a specific Elective that must be completed. A typical Firearms’ Safety Course comprises Section 1 and the Elective for Category A & B firearms.
WSCQPS001A Demonstrate knowledge of firearms legislation, firearms and community safety;
WSCQPS002A Demonstrate the safe use of Category A and B firearms.
