Noise Requirements for Night Shoots

Dear Pistol Section Member,

As part of ongoing efforts to minimise noise impact on residents near the Belmont Shooting Complex, SSAA Brisbane has been asked to implement changes to reduce noise levels during night competitions.

The following calibres and firearm types are not permitted at any pistol shoot held after 5:00 PM:

  • Magnum cartridges (e.g., .357 Magnum or any case with a magnum headstamp, regardless of loading)
  • Cartridges with supersonic velocities (greater than 1125 fps, such as some 115gr 9mm)
  • .38 Super & .38 Super Comp
  • Race-gun style firearms
  • Ported barrels
  • Barrels with muzzle brakes or compensators
  • Any firearm deemed too noisy by the Shoot Captain

Exemption:
.22lr rimfire pistols are exempt from these restrictions.

Additionally, please remember that FMJ ammunition is not permitted on the pistol ranges at any time.

It is crucial that all members manage their noise levels carefully. Continued noise complaints may result in the cancellation of all night shoots across the Complex. Please also share this information with others who may not have received this email.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain access to night shooting events.
